Alida Delport  Alida Delport, owner of Cherie-Finesse Cattery has sadly passed away on the 29th Of June, 2017. She leaves such a legacy behind. She was an icon in the cat world and loved by all who met her. She will be dearly missed and will always be cherished and remembered for her efforts to help, teach, uplift and build the cat community and the Chinchilla and Burmilla cat breeds.

In honor of her memory I will be keeping her website live, but it will no longer be maintained. There is still a lot of information on here that could be usefull to new cat ownders. So please, go ahead and learn what you can. I have put up referral contact numbers for trusted breeders who will be able to assist with any kitten queries.

We split our website to separate the Gallery

We created an extension of the Cherie-Finesse Cattery website called Cherie-Finesse Cattery Gallery

Not only does it solve the problem of the Google space limitation encountered on the main website, but the purpose is also to make it more easy to access specific photos that you are looking for.

It will take time to move the current Gallery over, as it has to be done page by page. But, a page a day keeps the workload at bay!

Co-breeders are doing excellent!

Cherie-Zelle Cattery, owned by Suzelle Kruger, is importing two kittens sired by L'Dearheart Sunny of Christypaws from the USA. One is a stud, Blue Golden Tipped. The other is a Black Silver female, carrying Golden. This female serves as the exchange cat for Catanova King Solomon.
We are in the process of setting up websites for Cherie-Zelle Cattery and Von Cherie Cattery.
Von Cherie Cattery is owned by Voné Schreuder. Von Cherie assisted Cherie-Finesse in taking over L'Dearheart Sir Lancelot and Cherie-Finesse Milly-Chan. Cherie-Zelle assisted in taking over L'Dearheart Damosel Linette.

Five breeding cats to Cape Town

posted Aug 30, 2015, 1:18 AM by Alida Delport   [ updated Aug 30, 2015, 1:18 AM ]

A breeder from a country town in SA had to give up breeding due to one of her children developing an allergy towards the cats. She was referred to Cherie-Finesse for assistance. There were 5 cats: one stud and 4 females. This was a long and tedious process. We checked pedigrees, breeding rights, tails for kinks, level bites, solid eye liners, nose liners, lip liners, weight, and more - all via photos, emails and a closed-group website.

What made the project worth-while was that 4 of the cats were Silver, but ALL were Golden carriers. Cape Town desperately needed a bigger Golden gene pool! Then there was a cross-breed between a Golden male and a Black Persian: a cat not registerable as a purebred Original Longhair. We cleared with CASA that this cat will go into the Experimental register. On the photo is a kitten bred by her.

My sincere thanks to the two breeders in Cape Town who took three of the cats. For now, Cherie-Finesse took two in, They may be placed with a different breeder towards the end of the year.

Moon Shadow WCF Ring winner

On the CASA show of 27 June 2015, SA Double Supreme Champion Cherie-Finesse Moon Shadow was awarded first place in the WCF Ring by CFA judge Jan Rogers from the USA. She could not believe that he was a direct cross between a Burmese and a Chinchilla. "He will win lots of cats in both the USA and Australia", she said.

Moon Shadow is a very sweet, lovebale cat. On the photo, taken by Henry Kruger at the show, I took Moon out of his cage and wrapped him over my shoulders: a position he likes a lot.

He will participate in the WCF Master Class  Ring on 22 August.

Mr Morné Swanepoel with Jnr Champion Cherie-Finesse Baron Dominique Jean Larrey of Emerald on a photo published in the Tygerburger.

Cherie-Finesse Baron Dominique Jean Larrey was named after the honorary French medical doctor Dominique Jean Larrey.

From Wikipedia:
Larrey was surgeon-in-chief of the Napoleonic armies from Italy in 1797 to Waterloo in 1815. During this time, he initiated the modern method of army surgery, field hospitals and the system of army ambulance corps. After seeing the speed with which the carriages of the French flying artillery maneuvered across the battlefields, Larrey adapted them as Flying Ambulances for rapid transport of the wounded and manned them with trained crews of drivers, corpsmen and litterbearers.

Larrey also increased the mobility and improved the organization of field hospitals, effectively creating a forerunner of the modern MASH units.

He also established a rule for the triage of war casualties, treating the wounded according to the seriousness of their injuries and urgency of need for medical care, regardless of their rank or nationality. Soldiers of enemy armies, as well as those of the French and their allies, were treated.

Well, after so many years of shying away from not Facing the Book, I eventually had to give in. Cherie-Finesse now has a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/CherieFinesse. Your "like" will be appreciated.

Moon Shadow and Lene's daughter

SA Supreme Champion Cherie-Finesse Moon Shadow and SA Tripple Grand Champion Cherie-Shelldon produced a stunning daughter, Cherie-Finesse Robina.

Robina is F3 phenotype and F1 genotype.

I was so relieved when both her parents tested negative for Hypokalemia. Also: notice that she does not have the barring one can see in Moon Shadow's tail. With a cat like Robina, the Burmilla ZA program is 100% on track!

Here is mom Lené:
